Angono Petroglyphs

Itching to take my 2 wheels for another ride, I embarked on visiting one of the great spots (IMO) to peek on weekends, the Angono Petroglyphs.

Let's see what I found!

Located in the rear recesses of a shallow cave in Binangonan, it is believed to be the oldest rock art inscription in our country, dating back to the Neolithic period.

Carved in rock formation, it holds a collection of 127 figural carvings engraved on the walls of a shallow cave.

It's like entering a different era as we indulged ourselves on the rock drawings. Experts have been deliberating on whether the art are symbolic representation of the culture or if it is medicinal and religious as ancestors are said to have carved these in order to transfer the sickness of their children onto the limestone wall. For travelers craving for adventure with a touch of history, this place is definitely worth seeing!

Jariels Peak Revisited

If you are a motorcycle rider or a mountainbiker you have probably heard Jariels Peak . A restaurant located in Tanay and Quezon border.  Going here is all straight up passing the marilaque highway comming from Marikina. I really do enjoy riding here because of the scenic route and the cool breeze from the mountain

A foggy morning

Jariels peak is at around the 90km mark. If you are looking for exotic food , then come .

Arrived at around 8am, I'am the first customer to arrived. And went around and took some pictures.

A few bikers arrived after 30min.

The menu

I asked what's in the menu, the staff said that it is rabbit and lamb. And still preparing the bulalo (beef shank broth). So I ordered lamb adobo served on a sizzling platter.

At Php 140.00

The lamb adobo is very tasty and delicious combined with egg is a breakfast of champions.

Underground Cemetery In Nagcarlan Laguna

It was sometime when I did the Laguna -Quezon loop on a motorcycle. Doing long distance travel on a motorcycle is economical but the rider is exposed to the elements. Found myself got nothing to do on a weekend, decided to go to Nagcarlan laguna. At about 140km from my place in SanMateo Rizal. Left the house 4:30 am travelling via the Marilaque highway passing the towns of Rizal.

Arrived at Nagcarlan at around 9:30 am. My destination is the underground cemetery and by the way the only one in the Philippines

A staff greeted me

Upon registering a staff gave me an overview about the history of the place. The underground burial is used for spanish friars and be uaed by prominent families as burial site.

I did enjoy my tour ,try visiting Nagcarlan underground cemetery. Entrance is free!

Marilaque highway... Jariels Peak, Mang Vics Bulalo

I got this new Yamaha FZ 16, and I wanted to break it in. So I tried going to Marilaque highway , A back door to  Real and Infanta Quezon. My journey starts from Cogeo and going to Boso Boso, Ascending the Sierra Madre mountain ranges.

I started early, left the house around 5 am, and ascended Boso Boso, The sun starting to rise and it is a foggy morning that greeted me.

this highway has limited access to public transport  making it a  favorite route of motorcycle riders and mountain bikers.

There are many resorts along the highway

A very scenic ride, very cool breeze and nice road condition. Making it a weekly destination for a road trip. Along the way up to Infanta, a favorite stopover for bikers is Jariel's peak. A simple restaurant that serve exotic foods, and I must give it a try.

A favorite stopover for bikers

Some of the menu, I must admit it is a bit expensive.

I asked the guy at the counter on what to recommend, since this is my first time being here. Said that I must try the sizzling giant mountain snails and also not to miss the frog adobo

Sizzling mountain snails

Frog adobo

I really like the sizzling snails, the frog tastes like chicken. I enjoyed this meal, it is not everyday that I get the chance to try out this kind of dish.

And I get to play with the monkey
From Jariel's peak, went a little further up and took some more pictures before heading down.

It is almost lunch time and passing down somewhere in Antipolo, I saw many parked bikers and I found another stopover that I must check out. It is Mang Vic's bulalo, I've heard that it is the original bulalo joint in this area.

Mang Vic's bulalo has no vegetable in its serving, just plain meaty goodness. A serving cost 80 pesos.
If you are planning to go to Marilaque, just take Marcos highway and it is all straight up there. And don't miss the foodie stopovers
