Ma Mon Luk, A legend in mami and siopao...

I was cruising along Quezon ave. when I felt hungry, haven't eaten the whole day. And Ma Mon Luk caught my attention. It's been some 20 plus years since I last eaten here. I still remember as a child when talking about siopao and mami, Ma Mon Luk tops the list.

It is like a visit to the past, Old newspaper clippings hanging on the wall, old tables, old ceiling fan, Pictures of celebrities during the early 80's and 90's.





I got myself a large bowl of beef mami and special siopao. And the broth taste like stale bread mixed with herbs, not appetizing huh? Well I learned that you have to put siopao sauce to improve the taste and lots of hot sauce.


Then after mixing in the condiments  it becomes a spicy and delicious broth,

The price is a bit expensive for a mami, but to dine here recreates the experience our parents and grand parents once enjoyed.

Pagkain ni Juan- Palaman sa tinapay ay Ice Cream

Marahil ngayon tag init, madalas ka makakakita na nag lalako nang sorbetes o tinatawag nila na ''Dirty Icream''. Matagal ko na pinag iisipan kung bakit ito tinawag na Dirty. Siguro dahil sa kadahilanan na ang mga gumagawa nito ay mga maliliit lang at kalimitan sa mga bahay lang, at wala itong quality control. ang iba naman ay nag sasabi na dahil ito daw ay nilalako, hinde raw nakkapag hugas nang kamay si mamang Sorbetero. marumi man O hinde, isa ito sa mga paborito nating Pilipino.

Isa sa nakatawag nang pansin ko ay bukod sa apa, si mamang sorbetero ay may dalang tinapay, kadalasan yung hamburger buns pa nga eh. tinanong ko si mamang Sorbetero kung bat may dala syang tinapay. Sabi nya pinapalaman daw sa tinapay ay ang ice cream?.Saan kaya nag mula ang pag papalaman sa tinapay nang ice cream?

Noon araw kasi wala pa  malalaking pagawaan nang mga pastries, waffers etc... ang mga  bumibili kay mamang sorbetero kahit na ano ginagamit para pag lagyan nang kanilang  ice cream, bowl,cups, baso etc.. eh  paano kung asa labas ka at gusto mo bumili nang ice cream? ayun! at duon umuso ang pag lagay nang ice cream sa tinapay. At hangang ngayon ito ay sikat pa din. Napaka malikhain talga ni Juan, Sige kain na!
