Tagay- Tagay Si Juan

Nasubukan mo na ba uminom? sa mga hinde pa, wag nyo na subukan at nang di nyo na maranasan ang sakit nang ulo kinabukasan!  alam nyo ba ang ibig sabhin nang tagay? Sa Ingles ibig sabhin ay Shot, sa Hapon, naman ay Kampai ang Cheers!.Paano ba ang ritual nang pag inom Ni JUAN? Una ,dapat  lahat nang kasapi sa inuman ay naka pwesto na paikot or naka circle, ang dahilan ay para madaling makita ang pag ikot nang tagay at madali makapag- kwenthan. Ito ay pinamumunuan nang Tanggero, sya ang nag bubukas nang bote ng alak at sya din ang nag papaikot nang baso, ika nga, Gunner sa ingles or taga bigay nang shot . Isang kaugalian na sa isang inuman ay ang pag bibigay nang unang tagay  sa mga Anito or mga espirito, Sa paraan na pag tatatapon nang unang salin ng bote sa lupa.

Ang pagpapaikot ay pwde din clockwise or counter clockwise, Ang isang pinaka importante sa inuman ay ang di dapat malalagpasan nang tagay ang bawat kasapi!. Or kung minsan na dodoble ang ikot nang baso sa isang manginginom. 

Baso na tagayan -  Iisa lang ang iniinuman nang lahat nang manginginom. Marahil ay iisipin nyo na medyo unsanitary, ngunit ito ay tanda  nang pakikisama at pagkakaisa natin mga Pilipino.

Chaser - Ito ang ginagamit na pamatay lasa nang Alcohol, ito ay Tubig, juice, Ice tea etc.. 

Pulutan - Isang batas sa inuman, wag matakaw sa pulutan, pwdeng pang pulutan, mga natirang ulam, handa, delata, minsan pag walang pera ay asin.

Inumin - Ito ay depende sa napag kasunduan na inumin O minsan kung ano ang gusto nang nag papainom. Gin, Vodka, Beer, Whisky, etc...

              

Patakan - Ito ang pondo o hatian na pera sa inuman na pang gasto, Minsan meron nag ii-sponsor

Banlaw - Ito ang tinatawag nila na washing madals ay beer , ito ay ginagawa lalo na kung hard na alak ang     naumpisahan , or kung bitin pa sa alak

Yosi - Madalas ay magkakaiba nang brand dahil sa iba iba kung minsan ang yosi nang maninginom

Runner - Ito ung manginginom na inuutusan na bumili nang mga pulutan, alak, yosi etc.. Sila ung madalas na walang pang patak

At maririrnig mo '' O bat di nyo pa ito ubusin'' at walang nag lalakas nang loob na ito ay kuhain.

Mga Dahilan bakit ayaw ito kainin
1) Baka masabihan na matakaw
2) Ikaw ang mag huhugas nang plato or mag tatapon nang box kung ikaw ang kukuha
3) Baka ikaw ang magbayad dahil ikaw ang ituturo na nakaubos nang madame
4) Nahihya ka , kasi mga bago mo palang kakilala ang kasalo mo sa pagkain
5) Nag papacute, lalo na ang mga babae. ( Palage sila nag titira)
6) Walang pang Ambag
7) Baka Busog na ( dahil madame na nakain)
8) Gusto I take out.
9) Nakikiramdam lang, at sya ang kukuha
10) Iniisip baka may nagugutom pa

 Ano man ang dahilan, tayong mga Pilipino, ayaw natin matapos ang  kasiyahan habang nag sasalo salo, ang pagkuha nang last piece ay para naring tinapos ang kasiyahan sa kainan, Kaya walang gusto kumuha nang kahuli hulian piraso nang pagkain. Ano kaya ang iba pang dahilan?

Pagkain ni Juan- Palaman sa tinapay ay Ice Cream

Marahil ngayon tag init, madalas ka makakakita na nag lalako nang sorbetes o tinatawag nila na ''Dirty Icream''. Matagal ko na pinag iisipan kung bakit ito tinawag na Dirty. Siguro dahil sa kadahilanan na ang mga gumagawa nito ay mga maliliit lang at kalimitan sa mga bahay lang, at wala itong quality control. ang iba naman ay nag sasabi na dahil ito daw ay nilalako, hinde raw nakkapag hugas nang kamay si mamang Sorbetero. marumi man O hinde, isa ito sa mga paborito nating Pilipino.

Isa sa nakatawag nang pansin ko ay bukod sa apa, si mamang sorbetero ay may dalang tinapay, kadalasan yung hamburger buns pa nga eh. tinanong ko si mamang Sorbetero kung bat may dala syang tinapay. Sabi nya pinapalaman daw sa tinapay ay ang ice cream?.Saan kaya nag mula ang pag papalaman sa tinapay nang ice cream?

Noon araw kasi wala pa  malalaking pagawaan nang mga pastries, waffers etc... ang mga  bumibili kay mamang sorbetero kahit na ano ginagamit para pag lagyan nang kanilang  ice cream, bowl,cups, baso etc.. eh  paano kung asa labas ka at gusto mo bumili nang ice cream? ayun! at duon umuso ang pag lagay nang ice cream sa tinapay. At hangang ngayon ito ay sikat pa din. Napaka malikhain talga ni Juan, Sige kain na!

Ugali ni Juan- Bakit nag babalot nang pagkain pag may handaan?

Kapag ikaw ay umatend nang isang handaan o kasiyahan, madalas mo ba nakikita na ang ibang bisita ay nag uuwe or nag take out nang handa? di mo ba naiisp saan kaya nag mula ang ganitong kaugalian ni Juan?

Likas kasi sa ating mga Pinoy na mapagmahal tayo sa kamaganak, at pag tayo ay nag sasaya naiisip nating ang ating pamilya, gusto din natin sakanila i-share kung nasarapan tayo sa pagkain na inihanda. Malalim ang pinag uugatan nang ganito nating kaugalian.Minsan pa nga, nasubukan nyo na ba pumunta sa isang handaan na di mo kakilala? meaning isinama ka lang, Pero di ba maluwag na ikaw ay tatangapin ng maybahay! Ibang-iba sa kaugalian nang ibang lahi, kagaya nang Amerikano, hinde ka pwde dumalo kung di ka invited. Yan naman ang kinahangaan ko sa ating mga Pilipino, likas tayo na hospitable sa kahit di natin kilalala. , kaya next time, Pabalot naman oh....

Isang paboritong pagkain ni Juan ay ang Tuyo, samahan mo nang sinangag, itlog at sawsawan na may sili. Ayos na ang inyong agahan. Dati rati ang pagkain nang tuyo ay madalas sabihin natin na pagkain nang mahihirap, dahil ito ay mura at madalas pang tawid gutom nang mahihirap nating kababayan. Hinde nyo ba alam na mayaman man o mahirap, ang Tuyo ay isang paboritong pagkain ni JUAN

Natawa ako sa isa kong nabasa na artikulo, tampok dito ang ating paborito na TUYO, Si Michael at Gloria Lim, mag asawang Filipino- American ay nagluto nang tuyo sa kanilang Apartment sa America. Alam naman natin na pag nagluluto ka nang Tuyo ay ang buong bahay ay mangagamoy, hinde naman ito mabaho para sa atin mga Pilipino, ngunit sa ibang lahi, ito ay nakaksuka. Sila ay dinemanda nang  Missionary sisters of the sacred heart sa NewYork na nag kakahalaga ng 75,000 $ na danyos? napaka mahal naman ata ? at kanilang iginigiit na ito raw ay masama sa kalusugan?may kilala na ba kayo na nagkasakit at namatay dahil sa pagkain nang tuyo?

Ito ay umani nang magkakaibang opinion sa mga naninirahan sa apartment na tinutuluyan nila Lim, ang iba ay pumanig sa mga madre at ang iba naman ay kila Lim. Karapatan  naman daw na kainin ang ''ethnic'' na pagkain sa loob nang kanilang pamamahay. Tara kain na tyo nang Tuyo!

Filipino time, better late than never?

Ano nga ba ang Filipino time? meron na bang bagong time zone at ito ay binansagan na Filipino time? Ito ay isang halimbawa na makikita natin sa pangaraw araw,  kung ikaw ay nakakatangap nang isang imbetasyon sa isang party? sabihn natin ito ay 7 pm, bakit karamihan nang panauhin ay darating nang 7:30 pm hangang 8pm?  Isa siguro sa dahilan ay tayong mga Pilipino ay ayaw natin na mag mukang atat na atat sa isang bagay kahit gaano pa natin ka- gustong gusto.

Ngayon sa mga kabataan, uso  ang salitang ''text, text'' .Kung sila ay may lakad at di pa sigurado ang oras, kalimitan maririnig mo '' text text nalang tayo'', Ibig sabihin, ay mag te-text ako sayo kung ako ay handa na, o kung papunta na sa sa ating usapan.

Kailan  ba natin mababago ang ganitong pag uugali? Ano ba ang naidulot sayo na maganda ng PILIPINO time?  FILIPINO TIME  is always late on time!

The humble kamote

It is very common to hear when someone is ridiculed, '' Go home and plant kamote'' As i recall the first time I heard it when I was still in grade school. And everyone laughed and teased my classmate saying out loud " kamote ka pala'' Why is the kamote, a plant associated when someone is mocked?

Don't you know that in rural areas, the kamote is one of the staple foods? One reason is that it is easy to cultivate and is much cheaper than rice. The tubers can be boiled and eaten dipped in sugar, and one popular street snack is the Kamote cue.Tubers are cut and fried with caramelized sugar then skewered. Not only are the tubers  utilized as food, young leaves and shoots are also  used in salads and can be added to meat/fish dishes, or sometimes eaten alone with a Bagoong dip.

Willie Revillame the most popular TV host?.

Willie Revillame, the most controversial TV host in the history of Philippine television. He used to host Wowowee , a TV show aired by ABS-CBN which ended last July 30, 2010.

A stampede happened at the Philippine Sports Arena on February 4, 2006, which was supposed to be Revillame's Birthday Celebration. The Department of Justice dismissed charges against  Revillame.

 During the transfer of Pres. Cory Aquino's remain from La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral, it was aired simultaneously with Wowowee. Revillame interrupted and asks that the footage be removed because it is hard for him to give laughter to his audience while seeing Pres. Cory's internment. This aroused criticism, saying that it was disrespectful of him towards the late president and some even find him arrogant.

Having a new show didn't stop Revillame from having controversies. Hosting Wiling Willie, a 6 year old child does a Macho dance and  appears to be unhappy on what he was doing. Revillame asked the child to dance more than once while the audience responded in laughter.

A boxing hero, faces tax evasion punch

Sarangani representative and a boxing icon, Manny Paquiao faces charges filled by BIR. The agency asked him to submit documents to support why a huge drop in his tax remittances. Being a government official ,he should be a role model to the people. According to sources, the boxing icon has  ignored request from the agency to submit papers of fights and endorsements.        

The BIR filled  a complain after 3 notices and a subpoena after the boxer allegedly  failed  to submit all documents. The BIR noticed  discrepancies and a huge drop  on Paquiao's 2010 tax return. Mr. Paquiao, please face the fight fairly and squarely. Is this a boxers dodge?

Saint Theresa’s College did not allow student to attend graduation rites

Saint Theresa's School Administration did not allow two students to attend their graduation rites, after posting pictures in bikinis on their Facebook account. A T.R.O. was issued by the court allowing the students to attend their graduation rites. But still, the school barred the students from entering the school premises to attend the ceremony.

Reynaldo Lapuz, American Idol all time favorite

Reynaldo Lapuz is a Filipino- American who auditioned on the American Idol, and became a celebrity by singing his own composition " We're Brothers Forever''.     

A song writer and singer, has his own band in his home country the Philippines, A tricycle driver in Quezon City  who migrated to the US in 2004. During his audition, He captured the heart of judge Simon Cowell but rejects him gently. Simon commented " I'm going to make a prediction here. I have a horrible feeling that it's going to be a hit record. You're very entertaining. I actually like you... but it's going to be a no."  Lapuz performed in the season finale of American Idol 7 , accompanied by the University of Southern California marching band.

Dynamite Lumpia ( Chilli)

Filipinos love spicy foods, I don't know the exact origin of this delicious appetizer called Dynamite Lumpia
But I tried cooking it and to my delight, It's a real party hit!
Of course the main ingredient is New Mexico cayenne pepper or Siling Pang sigang

WARNING : This is really hot!

 

Soak Pepper in salt water for 15 min,Split in half and remove the seeds

                                           Stuff with ground beef or pork
                                               

                                                                  

                                                         

                                                         

                                          Roll in wrapper
                                                   
  

                                          Fry until golden brown

                                          Dip in Mayo or Ketchup

HIV cases in the Philippines now @ an alarming rate

An increase in the number of HIV cases of around 72 percent compared to last year, Alerted  D.O.H. officials. 274 cases oh HIV infections diagnosed this February 2012 compared to 159 cases of February last year. 38 cases where due to needle sharing by drug users, 235 cases where of sexual contact, more than half of the sexual cases where due to homosexual encounters.

The condom controversy
Dr Esperanza Cabral said that in 2011 the government stopped allocating funds in the distribution of condoms due to pressure from the Catholic Church. Condoms are known to effectively stop the spread of HIV and other STD infections.  Dr. Cabral was once castigated by the Catholic Church for distribution of condoms on valentines day. 

Condoms against morality?

“Using condoms is an offense against God. If you are abstinent and faithful, hindi ka magkaka-AIDS,” said Fr. Joel Jason, head of the Archdiocese of Manila’s Commission on Family and Life.

The Church is firm with their stand against the use artificial means of contraception.

What is HIV? 
HIV stands for 'human immunodeficiency virus'. HIV is a virus (of the type called 
retrovirus) that infects cells of the human immune system (mainly CD4 positive T cells 
and macrophages—key components of the cellular immune system), and destroys or 
impairs their function. Infection with this virus results in the progressive deterioration of 
the immune system, leading to 'immune deficiency

What is AIDS?  
AIDS stands for 'acquired immunodeficiency syndrome' and is a surveillance definition 
based on signs, symptoms, infections, and cancers associated with the deficiency of the 
immune system that stems from infection with HIV.  


How is HIV transmitted? 
Through:

•  Unprotected sex (vaginal, anal and to a lesser extent oral sex) with an infected person
•  Sharing contaminated syringes, needles or other sharp instruments 
•   From mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breast feeding when the mother is   already HIV positive
•   Blood transfusion with contaminated blood
•   All these ways of transmitting HIV can be prevented

Zoobic safari adventure park

Zoobic safari is a very popular attraction located in Subic Bay freeport forest adventure,it is a 25 hectare land with different sections where a variety of exotic animals can be observed.(click here to visit their website)

Guest are given an orientation with what to expect and some safety tips when observing animals, especially the tigers. A guide leads every group in going around the park, and gives an overview of the different animals in captivity.
